The Amakhosi have vowed to bounce back when they host Bidvest Wits on Saturday, 9 November 2013 at the FNB Stadium. Kickoff for the game is at 20:15.

Captain Itumeleng Khune encouraged the Amakhosi Faithful to stick with the Team after a disappointing loss to Ajax Cape Town last Tuesday.

Losing against Ajax Cape Town, the side they have struggled to beat in Cape Town:

“We played against a young and determined Ajax team. Coach Muhsin Ertugral has coached us before and seems to have a good plan against us. We didn’t stretch ourselves enough to win the game. We have to pull our weight and forget the success of the past season. Maybe we are still dwelling in the past and are struggling to move on and realise that we are faced with new challenges.”

Playing Bidvest Wits, last season the Amakhosi took four points off the University-based side, winning 3-1 away and drawing 1-1 at home:

“This is going to be an interesting game. They have assembled a new team and roped in the experienced and league winning Gavin Hunt as their coach. They beat us in a training match during the preseason and I am sure they will come with a bit of confidence to FNB on Saturday. We have a score to settle as we can’t afford to lose two games in succession. We are playing at home and have to take all the three points. We are aware our supporters are unhappy following Tuesday is results and we want to appease them. To do that we have to work extra hard. We have a standard at Chiefs to uphold and we have to start with the Wits game to show our intentions.”

On personal performance, the ‘Spider Kid’ expressed disappointment after he kept only three clean sheets in eight league games played so far:

“I have kept only 3 clean sheets in the league this season and that’s disappointing. What is important is to first improve the Team performance and then I will look at my individual performances. For now I have to start collecting clean sheets otherwise it will be tough to do so in the second round of the league. In the second round we will be faced with Teams that are facing different challenges, relegation battles, fight to clinch top-8 spots and the fight for winning the Championship will be hot at that point.”
