An ecstatic Kaizer Chiefs team manager Bobby Motaung speaking after Chiefs' amazing and historical victory over Orlando Pirates at the FNB Stadium this past Saturday said “we promised our supporters an early Christmas present and we gave it to them”.

Prior to the game Motaung had said that victory over Pirates would be dedicated to the supporters as present to for their love and devotion for the team.

He also praised the supporters for turning up in large numbers at the FNB Stadium to spur on the Amakhosi to victory saying “at the last derby in October I appealed for the supporters to show gold passion and they did, again they came out in masses and helped us get the three points.

This victory is thanks to the supporters for sticking by us and believing that we could achieve victory over Pirates which means a lot to the players, coaching staff and management”.

The Chiefs team manager also offered congratulations to the players on a gutsy victory adding “the players played extremely well and they worked hard for this victory, it is the first time since the inception of the PSL that one team has won both matches in the league”.

Chiefs’ unique double dose of victories over Pirates also marks the first time one team has won both the duals between the two teams in a season since 1994.
