A visibly pleased, Vladimir Vermezovic once again paid a tribute to his charges for the level of professionalism and character they showed coming back from behind to beat SuperSport United in the Last 32 of Nedbank Cup in front of a packed Rand Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

It took a superb 88th minute strike from The Smiling Assassin, Knowledge Musona to beat Man of the Match, Dennis Onyango.

“I think the players here came with a point to prove after winning the Telkom Knockout last weekend. I am pleased by their performance once more and they showed a high level of professionalism,” said Vermezovic addressing a press conference following a gruelling 90 minutes in what was a rainy afternoon at Rand Stadium.

“We started the game well but then we conceded a goal in a set piece. I believe we were caught flat there with some of the players not in right positions,” highlighted the Serbian born coach.

“The most important thing for us though was to progress to the next round as we started pressing them during the second stanza. We created quite number of opportunity until Musona scored with two minutes remaining. It would have been three but they cleared off the line,”

The win against SuperSport United on Sunday was the first one against the side that had beaten the Glamour Boys twice in the league this season, “I hear the coach saying that the missed quite number of players but SuperSport United is SuperSport United and they are the champions of in the league. The beat us twice in the league this season and I am delighted that we won against them for the first time,” said Vermezovic with a smile.
