Kaizer Chiefs Celebrity player Akona Ndungane was a member of the Springboks’ World Cup squad and has made the Bulls’ number 14 jersey his own during the last couple of seasons.



He recently appeared for a triumphant Blue Bulls squad in the 2009 Vodacom Super 14 final against the Chiefs from Australia. kaizerchiefs.com called the speedy winger to congratulate him and his teammates for making South Africans proud, when they lifted the Vodacom Super 14 on Saturday.

AN: Thanks!



kaizerchiefs.com: How long have you played rugby for?



AN: Since the age of 14. Actually I played soccer before rugby and I would have loved to have played with Kaizer Chiefs?



kaizerchiefs.com: What position did you play?





AN: Midfield and Striker but I enjoyed being a striker because if you score you become the hero of the day, which is why I play as a winger for the Bulls (Laughing).



kaizerchiefs.com: How long have you supported Chiefs for?



AN: All my life and I will never change (Khosi 4 Life)



kaizerchiefs.com: How did it feel to be part of the 2008 Springbok World cup team?



AN: It’s something special to be part of the winning team and I will always remember it for the rest of my life.



kaizerchiefs.com: What does it take to be a champion?



A positive mindset and willingness to win every time you walk on the field and don your team’s jersey.



kaizerchiefs.com: What do you think is more difficult Soccer or Rugby?



AN: Rugby, because of the pressure and the knocks you take and it’s a physically draining game.



kaizerchiefs.com: Who’s your all time favourite Kaizer Chiefs Player?



AN: Doctor Khumalo, growing up in Umtata I always looked forward to Chiefs playing against the now defunct Umtata Bush Bucks so I could watch him play.



kaizerchiefs.com: Who is your current favourite Kaizer Chiefs Player?



AN: Itumeleng Khune.



kaizerchiefs.com: Who is the most exciting Current Kaizer Chiefs player to watch?



AN: Siphiwe Tshabalala and Abia Nale. They are both very entertaining and exciting every time they have the ball.



kaizerchiefs.com: Which player at Kaizer Chiefs do you think would be faster than you?



AN: None! (laughing)



kaizerchiefs.com: Who would you like challenge to a racing contest?



AN: Abia Nale and Kaizer Motaung Jr., because I think they would give me a challenge even though I would still win (laughing)!



kaizerchiefs.com: A lot has been said about the new coach, what would you like to say on the issue?



AN: I don’t know much about him, but we shouldn’t judge him before we see what he can deliver. I would like to urge all The Amakhosi Faithful to give him all support that he needs and rally behind our team.



kaizerchiefs.com: How does it feel sharing the same home ground as Kaizer Chiefs (Loftus)?



AN: It’s an honour for me every time I go onto the field, I want to do well because Chiefs, the team I supported and loved all my life, and Bulls share a home ground and that’s a motivation for me!



kaizerchiefs.com: What do you think of the Selected Bafana team to represent South Africa in the Confederations’ Cup?



AN: Let’s support them and give them the mental advantage and they will do well.
