Vodacom Challenge: Saturday Update

Posted in News on Jul 10, 2004.

The team had a light training session at the Mmabatho Stadium on Saturday morning at 10:30 to have a feel of the ground. There will be no training session in the afternoon ahead of tomorrow's encounter.

The team is on top form and looking forward to playing TP Mazembe at 12:30 at the Mmabatho Stadium in Mafikeng on Sunday.

Tickets are selling very fast therefore we would advise our supporters to make sure that they arrive at the stadium with a ticket. Tickets are on sale at Computicket.

Remember that gates open at 7:30 and the first 15 000 supporters that get in the stadium will receive a free Vodacom Challenge skull cap (beanie), buy your ticket and get to the stadium early.

Saturday was also another special day as team manager Bobby Motaung celebrated his 33rd birthday with the team, officials and Vodacom Challenge ops team.

It was a huge surprise for Bobby who walked into the Hotel School where all the teams eat and everyone started singing Happy Birthday. Fabian McCarthy as usual opened a bottle of bubbly and started spraying Bobby just like he did with Kaizer when the team won the league against Swallows.

Tonight the NW Province will be hosting a Jazz Concert sponsored by Standard Bank at the convention centre. Mafikeng City is already filling up with soccer loving fans and the roads are buzzing with black & gold jerseys and flags.

Whoever is an Amakhosi fan will definitely be in town by Sunday. Please drive safe and see you on Sunday at the stadium.
