Valentines Gift from God – Nengomasha

Kaizer Chiefs vice captain and captain against Bloemfontein Celtic on Saturday night, Tinashe Nengomasha has described his Man of the Match award as a “Valentines Gift from God”.

“The General” who has been wearing the captain’s armband in the absence of the Club’s regular captain, Jimmy Tau proved once again why he is regarded as one of the best midfielders in local football when he put a five star performance which inspired the Amakhosi to the third position in six games in 2009.

“It was a Valentines Gift from God,” said the delighted Nengomasha before joining his teammates on the Monday afternoon training session.

“I think everyone on the night did well but to be singled out as the best performer on the night was something special. I always try to give my best in each and every game for the benefit of the team. I am glad that we won on the night,” he said.

“We expected Celtic to be very tough. They competed above themselves and that raised our performance as well. We need to continue giving our best as a team and if we do that then anything is possible. In football if you play well results will come like it happened on Saturday,”

The tenacious midfielder told kaizerchiefs.com that he and his teammates are aware of the sentiments about Chiefs challenging for the league honours this season.

“The coach told us at the beginning of the season that we really need to go all out and challenge for the league honours. A big Club like Chiefs needs to challenge for league honours in each and every season.

The possibilities to win the Absa Premiership are there but we are not getting carried away,” he added.

Nengomasha has made a total of 205 appearances for Chiefs in the past seven years.
