Urban Warriors move Amakhosi fixture away from Newlands

Posted in News on Aug 14, 2006.

Chiefs kicked off the 2006-07 season with a victory this past weekend against Golden Arrows in the SAA Supa8 tournament and now Amakhosi are waiting with bated breath for the 27th August as this is the date when they will kick-off their PSL campaign away to Supersport United in Tshwane.

Although the official start of the 2006-07 season is still about twelve days away, there have already been changes to Amakhosi’s fixtures, albeit minor ones.

Amakhosi’s first away game of the season against Benoni Premier United on Sunday 10th September has had a change in venue and has been moved from the Pam Brink Stadium where the game was originally scheduled to take place and will now happen at the Germiston Stadium in Germiston, the kick-off time for the game remains at 15h00.

Another alteration to Amakhosi’s early season fixtures sees Chiefs’ first game in the Mother City against Ajax Cape Town moved across town. The game against The Urban Warriors was originally scheduled to take place at the Newlands Rugby Stadium. The game will now be played closer to the city centre at the Green Point Stadium and the game will now begin at 20h00, five hours later than originally planned.

The reasons given for the change in venue are that Newlands is unavailable and the Pam Brink Stadium is undergoing a major revamping. Hopefully the changes at Pam Brink Stadium will be a positive one for the game of soccer in Gauteng’s Eastern Border.

Fixture Changes:

Sunday, September 10th

Germiston Stadium, Germiston - Kick Off: 15h00

Benoni Premier United Vs Kaizer Chiefs

Saturday, September 16th

Green Point Stadium - Kick Off: 20h00
