Unchanged Chiefs ready to end flight of Birds
Unchanged Chiefs ready to end flight of Birds

Ernst Middendorp has kept faith in the same eleven players who brought home the points in a 3-1 midweek victory over Santos in Cape Town, by naming an unchanged starting eleven for Saturday evening’s game against Moroka Swallows.

Chiefs will be looking to continue their historical dominance over Soweto neighbours Swallows on Saturday and with it extend their lead at the top of the table over Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

For the first time in 2006 Ernst Middendorp has stuck to the same team in back to back matches which demonstrates a change in the thought pattern of the coach. Chiefs will be relying on the midfield trio of David Obua, Tinashe Nengomasha and Gert Schalkwyk to once again torment the oppositions defence as they have done in the past three games.

Middendorp has also opted to keep his cards close to his chest and will be hoping to deal the opposition a blow some time during the game with the introduction of the on form David Mathebula who once again starts from the bench.

This game presents the last Soweto derby of the season for Chiefs, having already twice triumphed over Pirates already this season The Amakhosi will be out for victory over Swallows to hold the unofficial title as Soweto’s number one PSL team. Swallows defense has been porous of late and did concede five games in a league game against Ajax Cape Town at home recently.

With the man of the match the last time the two teams met in October Tsweu Mokoro starting Saturday’s game from the bench as he has just returned from injury and is not 100% fit, Chiefs will feel this game is ready for the taking.
