We will make 2009 a better year for our supporters; they deserve that for all the support they have given us. These were the words of Kaizer Chiefs defender, Mokete Tsotetsi following a heartbreaking 2-2 draw against Platinum Stars in Rustenburg on Saturday.

The Glamour Boys deserved better than a draw having put Platinum Stars on the back foot the whole evening only to allow them to come back from 2-0 down.

This meant that Chiefs only managed to collect two points from a possible twelve points during the month of December after a successful run in November that saw them challenging the log leaders.

“It was heartbreaking, but that is how football is sometimes,” he said.

“We wanted to end on a high and give an early Christmas present to the supporters. It was not to be; now we have to go back to drawing board. I have no doubt though that this team will do even better in the second half of the season. Everyone from the Management to the supporters is behind us and we just have to start winning games,” he said.

“Kete” won Absa Premiership Man of the Match award for his efforts that saw him scoring the second goal for the club. He was at his best in the heart of defence partnering the evergreen Thabang Rooi.

“I did not expect to start the game as I had recently recovered from an injury. I was surprised to be voted Man of the Match. I wanted us to win more than anything. I will just have to build from that performance and make sure I start 2009 on a high note,” he said.

The hard tackling defender appealed to supporters to continue rallying behind the team in 2009, “Thank you for your support throughout the year. Do not give up on us, we need your support,” he concluded.
