Kaizer Chiefs shrugged off their ‘jinx’ at Chatsworth Stadium and registered a 1-0 victory against Golden Arrows in an entertaining encounter on Wednesday night.

Midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala scored the only goal of the game with a deflected strike at the 53rd minute.

Before Wednesday game, Chiefs had suffered two losses and managed a draw ten days ago against AmaZulu.

The Glamour Boys had the better of the early exchanges attacking from all angles with dazzling Abia Nale showing deft touches but could not break the hosts' defensive wall.

Coach Muhsin Ertugral had made four changes to the team that started against SuperSport United; Ibe Zito Ogbonna partnered Abia “Soul Provider” Nale upfront, midfielder; Reneilwe “Yeye” Letsholonyane was given a nod to start alongside Tinashe Nengomashe in the middle.

Thabang Rooi and Jimmy Tau reclaimed their places in the back four after sitting out against SuperSport due to suspension.

The visitors who were putting the hosts under pressure through their exciting quick passing game came close to opening the scoring in the 30th minute when The General, Tinashe Nengomasha’s well taken strike went just over Brenden Wardle’s bars.

Two minutes later, Philani Shange’s solo run brought the best out of Itumeleng Khune who forced the ball for a corner in a one-on-one situation.

The toe to toe battle continued as Nale still searching for his first goal for the club forced Brenden Wardle to dive low pushing his shot for a corner, 0-0 at halftime.

The Glamour Boys started the second half with a bang when midfielder, Tshabalala scored with a deflected shot at the 53rd minute, 1-0 to Chiefs.

Substitute, Jose Torrealba watched his shot going just wide after a piece of good work from Tshabalala.

EL Budha, Torrealba was in the thick of things minutes but seem to take his eyes off the ball after he was brilliantly set up by another substitute, Josta Dladla.

Itumeleng Khune pulled the save of the match when he denied Richard Henyekane with a superb save with few minutes left on the clock.

Ertugral will be satisfied going to back to Johannesburg with maximum points. With attention on Nedbank Last 32 this weekend Chiefs will return back to action in the league in ten days when they take on Bidvest Wits University on March 14.
