Kaizer Chiefs will be looking at having a flying start to the 2008/09 season when they host Thanda Royal Zulu (previously known as Benoni Premier United) at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday. The kick off for the game is at 20h00.

The game give the Glamour Boys an opportunity to undo the defeat they suffered in the hands of Thanda Royal Zulu the night before Valentines, early this year.

Since the launch of the Premier League in 1996/97, Amakhosi has lost only once in their opening game of the season against Supersport United in 2002/03 season.

Last season the Glamour Boys finished on 6th position and will be looking at doing better this season.

Kaizer Chiefs have been the more active side of the two sides as they have participated in number of preseason tournaments including Vodacom Challenge, Telkom Charity Tournament and have qualified for the final in the Wafa Wafa MTN8.

They go to the game against Thad Royal Zulu without the services of Jose Torrealba who was shown a red card in last Sunday’s MTN8 Semi final against Moroka Swallows. Also missing for the game is Kaizer Motaung Junior who is still out with an injury. Siphelele Mthembu is unable to take part in this game as well as his case drags on.

Speaking to kaizerchiefs.com Reneilwe Letsholonyane said they are confident of good start tomorrow despite missing key players.

“The coach has a plan. I think we have capable players who can fill the void left by the players who are unable to participate in this game. We have obviously put what happened in Rustenburg behind us and we all focus on the up coming game against Thanda. They are a closed book to us and we know that they have been watching us as we have been active since the end of June” he said.

The stylish midfielder said he was looking forward to play his first league game for Club, “This is where real work starts. The game is very important for us. We are playing at home and we need to start with a bang. Personally, I am looking forward to the game and to possibly make my debut. It is my dream to win the league with Kaizer Chiefs. We need to win tomorrow and take it one game at a time” he added.
