...as millions of passionate Kaizer Chiefs fans and family put on their regalia on Thursday, January 7, in celebration of the Club’s 40th anniversary since its inception in the dusty streets of Soweto.

Kaizer Chiefs' U/17 team was hard at work in preparation for the Future Gauteng Tournament that will kick-off on January 24, 2010.

Under the tutelage of their Coach, Doctor Khumalo, the Club’s U/17 team surprised many last year when it reached the semi-finals of the tournament, losing to the eventual winners, Boca Juniors.

Doctor Khumalo believes that the current team can do even better this year. “It is not always about the results at this stage but last year the team had just been assembled. We have had time to work more with this group of players and I am confident we can do even better than we did last year.

"The South Americans will again pose a challenge but if we play to our strengths like we did against Corinthians last year, we can surprise the teams,” said Khumalo, emphasising the importance of the tournament as the Club builds towards the next decade of success.

Recently voted as the second best Kaizer Chiefs player ever, behind Ace Ntsulengoe, Doctor Khumalo also sent a message to congratulate Kaizer Chiefs on its 40th anniversary.
