The best goal of my career – Tau

Jimmy Tau put a five star performance last night as the Glamour Boys sent the Birds packing at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Wednesday night.

The game also saw EL Capitan not only scoring the all important goal but also claiming the Absa Premiership Man of the Match Award. Speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Thursday, Jimmy Tau described the goal as the “best goal of this career thus far.”

Would you say the goal you scored against Moroka Swallows on Wednesday night, was the best in your career?Jimmy Tau

Jimmy Tau: Oh yes, It is has to be the best goal I have scored thus far if you look at how much we needed the goal as the team and also the situation we found ourselves in. It was a very important goal!

You were quick to point out on Wednesday after the game that the whole team needs to take credit for the goal...

Jimmy Tau: It is all about teamwork and the team deserves credit for that goal. It is our intention as the current generation to take the Kaizer Chiefs brand to the next level. I do not share this feeling alone but everyone in the team. It cannot be about me and my goal but the collective.

Would you have preferred to have scored this goal against Orlando Pirates on the 26 February 2011?

Jimmy Tau: There is still Santos before we can even start thinking about the game on the 26th.

The most important thing was the 3 points. A goal is a goal it does not matter who you score against. The fact that it was a winning goal made it more important for the team’s ambitions.

Early this season, Santos broke the team’s unbeaten record and now the team has won four games in a row since 2003/2004 season. They might come out to spoil the party come Sunday...

Jimmy Tau: We are not expecting any easy games at this stage of the season. Each and every team has ambitions to win the league, or fight for the place in the top 8 or avoid relegation. Santos has its own ambitions like we do. We are however focusing on our preparations and we are going all out to come back with a positive result in Cape Town.
