Amakhosi midfielder Tinashe Nengomasha insists that despite the club's race being effectively run in their quest to lift the league title this season, Chiefs will not drop their heads and will continue to battle in their remaining two league games to ensure that they end the season on a victorious note.

The midfield general speaking to kaizerchiefs.com did not hide the fact that he was saddened by Chiefs weekend loss to Sundowns, “I do not like the fact that I need to be speaking about being disappointed.

I would have preferred to have been addressing the fans looking ahead to the Ajax game knowing that we still had a strong chance of winning the title”.

Nengomasha further added that giving their all towards winning the league championship was at the top of Chiefs agenda at the start of the season.

“We set a target for ourselves and that was to win the league.

As a group it is bitterly disappointing that we will not manage to achieve that, I do feel that we played a good brand of football this season and it is unfortunate that we do not find ourselves in the top two place on the table.”

The Zimbabwean international is now focusing on Chiefs final fixtures of the 2010 – 2011 season, starting with this Saturday’s game against table toppers Ajax Cape Town.

“We do have two games left and these are vital games for us and our opponents, Ajax are chasing the league title and Amazulu will obviously be targeting a top eight finish. So there is much still to do and we have some of our guys aiming for some individual accolades.”

On the individual accolades Nengomasha was referring to Amakhosi striker Knowledge Musona who currently tops the league scoring charts with 13 goals and 18 in all competitions this season.

Tinashe hopes to play a part in helping Musona add to his tally of goals.

“Knowledge went through a good spell and scored important goals for us and he also went through a lean patch. Credit to him for persevering and he has got some goals in recent games.

As his team mates we are pleased that he is the top scorer and we will do everything to help him and make sure that he can score a few more goals and ensure that he finishes in that position, overall our objective remains to collect six more points for this season.”
