Jimmy Tau entered the change room after Chiefs exciting 2-1 victory over Silver Stars in a PSL game this past Sunday at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Rustenburg to a standing ovation from his team mates.

It is not often that a defender gets congratulated by his team mates, and it is an even rarer occasion for Jimmy Tau to hit the back of the net, prior to his strike on Sunday Jimmy had got his name on the score sheet twice before.

Those two goals came at the end of his tenure with Pirates after he had already been with the club for three seasons, his first goal for Pirates came in the 2005 ABSA Cup against Black Leopards and his second goal came on the last of the 2005-2006 season against Bush Bucks.

When quizzed about his goal scoring exploits Jimmy said, “I don’t hit the back of the net everyday so obviously when I do I usually go over the top with my celebrations it just feels great”.

Jimmy gave a wry smile when told that it had taken him three seasons to score a goal for Pirates where as it has taken him a mere seven months to find a goal at Chiefs. He said “I don’t think that we can make much of it in that way but I do hope that I can score a couple more goals over the next couple of seasons”.

Having got his first Chiefs goal under his belt, Jimmy say his focus is now firmly on Sundowns in the ABSA Cup Semi Finals this Saturday, he says “ scoring against Stars was really wonderful, that has helped my confidence but Sundowns on Saturday in the Semi’s is what now awaits us”.

Jimmy is equally confident that The Amakhosi can continue their successful cup run against Sundowns “at the moment we are preparing very thoroughly for Sundowns. The guys are upbeat about our chances, we are really positive that we can win the game and get to the final and allow our supporters to enjoy coming to the stadium to watch us through to the end of May”.

Jimmy the lion heart will be back with the rest of his team mates at the site of their PSL victory over Silver Stars, this time Chiefs return to the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace with higher stakes. As Chiefs aim for their first PSL ABSA Cup title since 2000, kick off for Saturday’s game is @ 15h15, tickets for the game are currently available at Computicket outlets nation wide.
