As the Amakhosi prepare to kick off with the second round of league games when they travel to face Bloemfontein Celtic this weekend kaizerchiefs.com caught up with skipper Jimmy Tau who reflected back on the opening fifteen games of the season.

With Chiefs in second place after the first round of games Tau believes that they have a lot of positives to take with them into the second round “what was key for us was the fact that we started well at the beginning of the season, we won crucial games and had a long unbeaten spell.”

Tau explained in reference to the fact that Chiefs were unbeaten in their opening six league games, he further added “ starting off on a winning note helped us build up a good spirit and the morale has been high since, now we need to look forward and build on what we have achieved since August.”

After fifteen games in the previous campaign Chiefs were in sixth place in the league standings having amassed 22 points, this time out they are second and have collected 29 points.

The progress made by the team has pleased Tau who said, “if we compare with last season amongst the reasons behind our improvement on where we were at this time last season is because the team understand each other and are implementing the coaches instructions better.

We have adjusted as a team and grown together as a team, we needed to find synergy and we have achieved that.”

Last season league Champions SuperSport United notched up 57 points as they won a third successive title, while Chiefs are on track to achieve around those number of point.

Tau explains that the Amakhosi will need to secure more than sixty points if they are to win the league, “what was achieved by teams in the previous seasons to win the title are benchmarks for us, we need to do much better than 57 points because we don’t know what the teams in front of us will do.

Right now we just looking at our progress we a point off where we would like to be which is not a problem we can always pick up, for now everything is on track and we gearing up for a very difficult second round, we must do everything we can to do well for the club.”
