Many of the Amakhosi’s fans in the Mother City were not particularly happy with the fact that Chiefs’ visit this weekend had to be moved away from Cape Town as there was no suitable venue available in the city to stage the game.

Instead of quick plane journey to Cape Town, Chiefs and their hosts Ajax will have to make lengthy bus journeys to Kimberly where the game will be played.

While Ernst Middendorp and his team will not be particularly looking forward to the trip, there is in the Chiefs camp one man who could not be happier that the game is heading to Kimberly.

For Chiefs defender Jimmy Tau who has started in all three of The Amakhosi’s league game this season, the fact that the game has been moved to Kimberly is heaven sent as it presents him with the opportunity to play in front of his home town crowd.

Tau who hails from Galeshewe on the outskirts of Kimberly a town made famous by excavators who came the in the early days, seeking to make their wealth by scourwering the land for diamonds.

In the ten season that Chiefs have played in the PSL this will be their first league game in Kimberly or the Northern Cape as a province, such is the rarity of The Amakhosi visiting this part of the country that has further added to Tau’s happiness.

Commenting on the fact that he will be in front of many friends and family when Chiefs take on Ajax on Sunday Tau said, “the chances that we would have ever played a league game in Kimberly are so slim, that when I walk out onto the field on Sunday it will really be a dream that became a reality. I have always wanted to play a game with Chiefs in my hometown and with out asking The Almighty has granted my wish.

In the crowd for the game will be one particular person who Jimmy will be hoping to impress and guide Chiefs to a memorable victory.

“My mom watches all our games on television and it has been a long while since she last watched a game at the stadium, to have her in the crowd on Sunday will complete what I hope will be many happy returns for me to Kimberly,” said Jimmy.

The Chiefs defender, who did not feature much in Chiefs pre season games, has played every minute of the new season thus far and is confident of a Chiefs victory on Sunday. Jimmy concluded by saying, “In front of my home town crowd there is only one way the game can go and that is a Chiefs victory, Ajax will make us fight for the points I feel with all the support we will get from our fans in Kimberly we are aiming to reward them with a victory”.
