Lawrence ‘Tlou’ Molekwane made his first start for the Amakhosi this season when he deputized at right back for club captain Jimmy Tau during the team’s midweek draw against Vasco Da Gama.

The young defender performed commendably and insists that Tau must take credit for his performance, “Jimmy is playing at a very high level” divulged Molekwane who than had further choice words for his skipper.

“Through out the season he has played very well and given what he did against Pirates in the derby and his overall performance in that game it was going to be difficult for any one to stand in for him.

When the coach gives you the opportunity to stand in for a player who has been doing so well it is inspirational and major motivation, training alongside Jimmy has also helped raise the level of my overall game.”

Molekwane’s appearance against Vasco was just his second overall appearance during the 2010 – 2011 campaign as he had been overcoming injury, his hope now his to be able to get additional game time so that he can continue improving his form.

“I think I did okay, being out for as long as I was meant that I was not on the same level as match fitness as the rest of the guys, I tried my best and I think that I did well for the team.”

The appearance against Vasco has boosted Molekwane’s confidence and as he explains he will do whatever it takes to ensure that he gets regular playing time, “the fact that the coach was able to give me a place in the starting line up means a lot to me.

For him to start me has been a boost for my morale and I now know that if I work hard my chance will come, this weekend we have a tough game against Free State Stars and I will again give it my best should I be handed an opportunity to play.”
