A week after surrendering the Vodacom Challenge at the hands of St Eloi Lupopo, Kaizer Chiefs take up another challenge against SuperSport United in the Mayoral Cup in Mpumalanga at KwaNyamazane Stadium on Saturday.

The game, to be broadcast live on SuperSport 3, is organised by the two teams in conjunction with the Mbombela community to raise funds to combat the HIV/AIDS pandemic in the area.

United spokesman David Skhosana confirmed their participation and added that his club was honoured to be involved in this social responsibility programme.

For Chiefs, the programme falls perfectly in line with their social responsibility programme that extsnds from their fortnight long participation in the Vodacom Challenge, the theme of which was focused on HIV/AIDS.

The tournament also give both teams an opportunity to fine tune their squads for the upcoming Castle League programme scheduled to get underway at the start of August.

Both teams have been busy in the transfer market bolstering their squads and fans in the area will be fortunate to watch some of the new signings parading right in front of their eyes.

Meanwhile, Skhosana said his club was proud to have contributed four players to the national u-20 squad that takes on Madagascar in a first round African Youth Championship in Port Elizabeth on Sunday.

Wayne Sunderland (goalkeeper), Siboniso Gaxa (defender), Daniel van Wyk and Itumeleng Sekwale (midfielders) are all on the books of United after graduating from the team's youth programme.

Chiefs on the other hand can be proud of contributing an equal number of players to the squad. Buti Sithole, Damien Cornelli, Junior Khanye and Bevan Bouwers are all products of the Chiefs development programme.
