The visitors coach, Roger Da Sa thank ‘football gods’ as Bidvest Wits handed Kaizer Chiefs a 1-0 defeat in their own backyard, Orlando Stadium on Wednesday night. Mark Haskins scored the only goal of the match.

The Glamour Boys were all over visitors in particular in the second stanza and when Siphiwe Tshabalala’s stoppage time penalty it summed up what had been a frustrating night for the Club.

The Glamour Boys returned to Orlando Stadium hoping to continue with their dominance over the Students with Amakhosi winning their last three league encounters against them including MTN8 fixture earlier this month.

Vladimir Vermezovic had made one change on the side that drew 3 all against Ajax Cape Town last Sunday. It was

Chiefs who threatened first when Mandla Masango failed to keep his shot down.

The Students suffered a blow when they lost defender, Neil Winstenley due to injury in the 23rd minute but that seem to spur them on as they took lead three minutes later through Mark Haskins.

Chiefs Technical Team brought in Tshabalala in a place of Mandla Masango in the second half and Nale moved to the right and the move nearly paid dividends when the latter shot went just wide after Darren Keet had only parried a powerful shot from Jose Torrealba.

Darren Keet was called on to duty again in the 54th minute when he saved a shot this time from Siphiwe Tshabalala after being brilliantly set up by Josta Dladla.

The latter was in the thick of things again in the 62nd minute when he forced a save after some piece of good work from his teammate Jose Torrealba.

Substitute Knowledge Musona made an immediate impact after replacing Jose Torrealba when he beat Michael Morton to set up for Nale but Patrick Phungwayo made a well time tackle as the Glamour Boys searched for an elusive equaliser.

Chiefs continued to search for an equaliser with Nkosinathi Nhleko’s flying header coming off the cross bar following a sublime corner kick from Tshabalala.

The latter had his stoppage penalty saved by Darren Keet to end Amakhosi’s hopes of securing a point in three league games.

The Naturena based side travel to Durban this weekend for a tricky encounter against AmaZulu.
