As Stanton Fredericks disembarked off the FC Moscow team bus for training at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday afternoon he could not stop smiling and talking animitatedly to his teammates about the stadium and the atmosphere the fans generate on match day.

Stanton who was amicably known as Stiga by the Chiefs supporters during his three season stay at the Amakhosi. Stanton helped the Amakhosi win five trophies including the African Cup Winners Cup and the league trophy after Chiefs have failed to win the title for twelve years during those three memorable seasons.

Stanton who departed for Moscow from Naturena at the start of the 2004-2005 season is relishing the opportunity of taking on his old teammates. "I am looking forward to messing around with Arthur Zwane running rings around Fabian McCarthy and most importantly scoring against Rowen Fernandez or Emile Baron it does not matter whose in goal," added a clearly and visibly excited Fredericks.

The game against Chiefs also affords Stanton’s family and friends the chance to see him play for FC Moscow “my son, who is just over a year old along with many of my friends and family members will be at the stadium on Saturday as they cannot manage for various reasons to make the trip to Russia so in this way they get to see me playing with my new team against my old team” continued Fredericks.

Stanton’s generally positive approach and outlook to different challenges that he is faced with has ensured that FC Moscow are only full of praise for the highly skilful Fredericks as FC Moscow spokesperson Oleg Yarovinski explains, "since Stanton came to Moscow he has never been late for training, also giving 100% he has also had good communication with the coach and with the club structures in general."

Yarovinski continues further, "he has adapted so well that he is able to have a basic conversation in Russian and also he can understand the language fully, if he is given instructions in Russian he will be able to carry them out."

What does Stanton make of a return to the FNB against the might of the Amakhosi and their supporters. "When I was here the supporters loved me and I loved them I don’t think that it will be any different on Saturday and I know they will be behind me, it’s Chiefs who have to worry about whose side the supporters will be on," quipped Fredericks.

As to which way the game would go on Saturday Stiga was quick to comment, "I am expecting a very tough game physically, because we are here long enough I think that we won’t be affected much by altitude and such factors. At the end of the day I think FC Moscow are here to show what we made of and we will give all we have to go for victory."
