Nearing the start of his fourth season with The Amakhosi also means that this weekend's Telkom Charity Cup, will be Chiefs midfielder Scara Ngobese’s fourth appearance at the annual tournament, which acts as a precursor to the start of the regular PSL Season.

The highly skilful midfielder who transferred to Chiefs from Amazulu prior to the start of the 2004 – 2005 season made it to the final of the 2004 event, when The Amakhosi were narrowly beaten on penalties by Mamelodi Sundowns. Is focused on going one better then he did in 2004 by lifting the new look Charity Cup trophy on Saturday, winning the Charity Cup is not the only aspect of this weekends event in Mmabatho.

Scara who possess an array of tricks to dazzle any defense explained to kaizerchiefs.com on Tuesday morning that he enjoys the atmosphere and exciting football that the one-day showpiece event throws together. The man who has made the number 11 jersey his over the past few seasons, has also come out in praise for the organizers who have taken this years event to another part of the country.

MMABATHO MASTERSTROKE

Scara has welcomed the idea of playing this years tournament in the North West Province and with the news that ticket sales have been progressing along rapidly, he is confident that the atmosphere in Mmabatho will be just as vibrant as it has been in the last three Charity Cups that he has participated in. Scara added “we have fans all over the country and this is a perfect opportunity for our fans in that part of the country to get to see us live in action.

Playing these games in a city that does not often have PSL teams visiting is a good thing, not just for our fans but also for the supporters of all the teams participating in the event. I must add that we are in the fortunate position of having fans based every where in the country so every game is like a home game for us, added to that we have a number of passionate loyal fans who travel all over the country to cheer us on and I sometimes look out for some familiar faces in the crowd and they might not know this we appreciate the support of all of our fans”.

Having played in a number of friendly and exhibition matches in Mmabatho in the past Scara believes that Saturday’s outing in the North West will be just as successful as his previous one at the Independence Stadium. As he added “ I have played in Mmabatho a couple of times in Vodacom Challenge games and I must say that I have not lost a game there, so that is one more reason to look forward to traveling to Mmabatho”.

READY AND RARING

During his four seasons with Chiefs Scara has won every domestic trophy on offer, as he picked up a league winners medal in his first season with the club in 2004 – 2005 and won the Coca Cola Cup in the same season. In 2005 – 2006 he added and ABSA Cup medal to his collection, and last seasons he played a leading role guiding Chiefs to SAA Supa8 title.

There is one winners medal that he needs to complete his personal collection of silver ware, and believes that this coming weekend will be the perfect time to complete the puzzle.

“The Telkom Charity Cup is a great event, the vibe, the color, the full stadium just thinking about playing in this tournament gets you fired up” said Scara. He continued on by adding “we lost to Pirates last week and we will definitely be looking to make amends for that loss, the guys are focused on winning the weekend obviously it is the only domestic trophy I have not won and will like to change that this Saturday”.
