Kaizer Chiefs are back at FNB Stadium this evening to take on Cape Town City FC after travelling to Gqeberha over the weekend to face Stellebosch FC in the Nedbank Cup.

Amakhosi had fewer days to prepare for this evening’s match due to the Nedbank Cup engagement on Saturday, while Cape Town City had a bit more time due to their early elimination from the Cup. The away team also announced the signing of the experienced international, Thulani Serero, who was overseas for over a decade.

The two teams meet for the second time this season with City having bagged all the three points in the first round. Amakhosi will want to appease their fans with a third straight win after winning their previous two encounters, against Magesi FC in the league and Stellies in the Nedbank Cup.

On the log Amakhosi are in 8th position after 20 games with 28 points in the kitty. The Citizens have 22 points from their 21 outings and are 10th on the log.

Going into tonight’s match Coach Nasreddine Nabi has made two changes to the Starting XI when compared to the previous match in Gqeberha. The changes will see Dillan Solomons start ahead of Reeve Frosler, and in midfield, Mduduzi Shabalala returns to replace Pule Mmodi.

Chiefs will keep to a 4-1-4-1 formation for this evening’s match.

Bruce Bvuma is the goalie.

In defence Edmilson Dove will be on the left, Saturday’s goalscorer Inacio Miguel and Given Msimango are at the centre and Solomons will be on the right.

Saturday’s man of the match, Thabo Cele, is the holding midfielder and will support four attacking midfielders, Glody Lilepo on the left wing, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Gaston Sirino in the middle, and Shabalala on the right flank.

Ashley Du Preez leads the attack.

Miguel is the captain.

This evening’s referee is Eugene Mdluli. He is assisted by Lalelani Mngadi and Kgara Mokoena. The match’s fourth official is Thembinkosi Mangai.

The Betway Premiership between the Phefeni Glamour Boys and the Citizen will start at 19:30 at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. The game is live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv and various SABC radio stations - with regular updates of the match on X (Twitter) @KaizerChiefs.
