This is a very crucial stage for us and for how well we can do; it is going to put us in the right frame of mind to be able to face the challenges and challengers ahead.

We have numerous new additions to our team this is the time to get them into the rhythm and understanding of how we play and when the season kicks off the acclimatization process will be over.”

Tau who will be entering his fourth season as Chiefs captain when The Amakhosi kick off the 2011 – 2012 season after assuming the leadership role at the start of the 2008 – 2009 campaign believes that Chiefs have the desire and ambition to do well.

That it is now up to the players to ensure that they ready themselves in the next few weeks, “in the pre-season you get to figure out your mistakes get better on your strong points. It is the chance for us to improve on the technical aspects of our game, and we intend to do just that in the next few weeks by making strides towards perfecting our play.”

Of the burning ambition to challenge for the title next season he said, “given that we lost the league buy one point last time out everyone around the squad has been echoing the same sentiment which is that if we start off the season well we will be able to gain the momentum to keep us going through the entire campaign.

In order to make the perfect start to the season we need to be in the best shape, mentally and physically, the will, desire and passion to do well exist in this team and this is the time for us to do the ground work of what can be a successful season in 2011 – 2012.”
