While his heroics for Bafana Bafana at the 2010 FIFA World Cup have helped him become a recognizable figure at home and abroad Amakhosi midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala believes that he has to win many more titles with Chiefs if he is to be considered an Amakhosi legend.

“I cannot call myself a legend or think about ever being labelled as one for Chiefs” explained Tshabalala who takes the humble approach about his recent achievements for club and country.

Divulging the reasons behind why he believes that he should not be looked upon as a legend the dreadlocked winger added, “I have not won a league title for the club I have been fortunate enough to win a few Cup titles, without a league trophy I have not achieved the most important goal.

To me the league is my aim and that is the important piece of silverware it is my priority to win it this season, and after that perhaps and African title but first my aim is to ensure that the Absa Premiership trophy will rest at our club house at the end of the season. Winning the Cups will give me the motivation to win the league as well.”

Tshabalala is one of a number of key players to Chiefs aspirations this season and as a result will be marked tightly by opponents through the season but he does not see that as problem but rather a challenge.

“The opposition will always try and mark me tightly and allow me not to play my usual game that means that I need to work harder in each game which is no problem for me” explained Tshabalala. Overall the enterprising and skilful Tshabalala feels that the current Chiefs team can be competitive in the Premiership this season, “we have a well balances team in all areas with really good players. I believe that this team is capable of competing for honours on all fronts” concluded Tshabalala.
