Silva, Mmodi, Solomons back for Chiefs against Zesco

This Sunday afternoon sees Kaizer Chiefs take on ZESCO United in Match-Day 4 of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup in the city of Durban as the chance to qualify for the knockout stage of the competition beckons.

Amakhosi beat ZESCO 1-0 in Zambia last Sunday at the Levy Mwanawasa before returning to South Africa to face Marumo Gallants in Bloemfontein on Wednesday, where they won by the same scoreline.

Chiefs kicked off the year with two victories in the league and Confederation Cup against Golden Arrows and ZESCO respectively.

There is everything to fight for in Group D as Chiefs are third with four points, with Al Masry and Zamalek SC in first and second position, respectively. Zesco are still to collect points.

Coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze have gone back to the team that started against ZESCO in Zambia last week. This mean it is six changes when compared to the team that took on Gallants on Wednesday. Dillan Solomons, Inacio Miguel, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Mfundo Vilakazi, Pule Mmodi and Flavio Da Silva are back in the side as they replace Paseka Mako, Thabiso Monyane, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Mduduzi Shabalala, Asanele Velebayi and Khanyisa Mayo.

The team revert to a 4-4-2 formation this afternoon.

Brandon Petersen is the ‘keeper.

At the back, Aden McCarthy starts on the left, with Zitha Kwinika and Miguel at centre-back, and Soloimos on the right.

The holding midfielder is Lebohang Maboe. He will be supported by Mmodi on the left and Ndlovu on the right of midfield. Vilakazi is the attacking midfielder.

Strikers are Lilepo and Da Silva.

The CAF Confederation Cup match between the Glamour Boys and Zesco will kick off at 15:00 at Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban.
