Siphiwe Tshabala returned to the Amakhosi starting eleven during Saturday’s 3 – 1 win over Maritzburg United scoring a brace as well as collecting the man of the match award as Chiefs moved into second place on the league table.

The dreadlocked winger sat down with Kaizerchiefs.com and spoke about his eagerness to get back out on the field and play Golden Arrows Chiefs next league opponents on Wednesday evening.

KaizerChiefs.com Siphiwe you come off scoring a brace against Maritzburg United, the first time you have managed such a feat what has it done for your confidence?

Siphiwe Tshabalala: It was a great feeling to have got those goals, it is always a bonus to set a new standard for yourself and getting the brace was a good achievement. I pushed myself and I am happy that I was able to contribute to the team’s victory, the win is a boost to the entire team and winning is always good for our confidence.

You have said that you are keen on winning the league, coming back after a week away and playing the way you did do you feel it demonstrates you are serious about winning the title?

I am committed to helping Chiefs make a go of it in the title race and I have said that winning the league is a priority to me, it’s not just me but the whole team feels that way as well and we all would like to win the title. The desire two win the title is a driving me on. It also is satisfying that when you play well and help the team win and I am glad to have been part of the win over Maritzburg.

During the 07 – 08 and 08 – 09 campaigns you scored six league goals for Chiefs in each of those seasons. Do you feel that you can score more than six goals this season in the league?

We need to set ourselves targets and I am hoping to break that mark and score as many goals as I can. It is my aim to set a new benchmark for myself we need to set new targets all the time and I do feel that with the way we playing it is possible for me to find a few more goals. I have three goals in the league this season so let’s see where we get at the end of the campaign.

Chiefs face another team in the top eight when they travel to Durban to face Golden Arrows. What is the approach for this game?

We know it won’t be an easy game playing Arrows has never been easy they also put up a fight and games against them are highly competitive. We have shown in recent games that we are looking sharp and that we ready to play anyone and we want to play and are eager to get out on the field again.

Finally Siphiwe Chiefs presently have 33 points with 14 games to still play in the league, do you feel that it is possible for the team to amass 60 points or more which has generally been enough to win the league in the last couple of seasons?

It is possible for us to achieve whatever we set our minds to, at the moment we are playing each game like it is our last game and we focusing on our next opponents only. It is important for us to do that right now the Arrows game should be the only thing that we are thinking about. When this game is over than we will look at our position and readjust our goals and then focus on the next game, to quote two general statements we will have to take things one game at a time and also we need to understand that there is no easy game from here on in.
