Amakhosi winger Siphiwe Tshabalala has called on fans to turn out in large numbers when the South African U-20 team face Lesotho in their second game in Group A of the 2011 CAF African U2-0 Championships at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto on Wednesday afternoon.

Amajita went down 4-2 in their opening game to Mali on Sunday and need a win against Lesotho to keep on track and qualify for the knock out stage of the competition.

“It’s important that when any of our national teams are in active competition that we get behind them and give them all the help they need, they might have lost the first game but with our backing they can still win their next two matches” explained Shabba.

Who further added that he too would try to get down to the Dobsonville Stadium, “depending on our training schedule on Wednesday I will try my best to go to Dobsonville and watch the youngsters in action and I urge all of our fans if they are free to go there and be the twelfth player for the team.”

Shabba also stressed that for the future of South African football it is vital that Amajita do well at the tournament as he said, “the teams reaching the semi-finals qualify for the U-20 FIFA World Cup later this year, for the development of football in the country it is essential that our teams reaches Colombia.

They will get used to playing at this level and facing certain teams whose players they will come up against regularly, so when they get to senior level playing in senior World Cup’s and Nations Cup will be a task they will be up to. So lets give them our support.”

On another note Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic confirmed on Tuesday that Shabba should be fit for this weekend’s Nedbank Cup Last 16 Clash against Baroka FC in Polokwane.

He missed the Amakhosi’s 2-0 Absa Premiership win over Mpumalanga Black Aces on Saturday evening as a result of a swollen ankle fallowing a knock he took to his ankle during Chiefs game last Wednesday evening against SuperSport United.

Chiefs Coach Vladimir Vermezovic also confirmed that defender Dominic Isaacs was excused from training on Tuesday as he had to attend to some personal matters, Isaacs is expected to feature this in this weekend’s Cup game against Baroka FC and will be return to training on Wednesday.
