Kaizer Chiefs midfield wizard Scara Ngobese is convinced that should the Chiefs fans come out in large numbers to support The Amakhosi when they begin the defence of their ABSA Cup Crown against Golden Arrows on Sunday, it will work as an inspirational tool and will aid in motivating the team and will help Chiefs' eventual march to a second successive ABSA Cup Title.

Scara, who has over the years dazzled many opponents with his creativity and skill, is no stranger to knock out cup competition and was instrumental in Chiefs' 2004 Coca Cola Cup win, as well as Chiefs most recent cup success namely the 2006 SAA Supa8 Cup.

Scara is thus well equipped to understand what it takes to be successful in the countries premier knock-out cup competition, “For us to be successful in the ABSA Cup, we need to have our fans out in full force at the stadiums, lending their voices to our campaign” added Scara.

Ngobese further stressed the importance of having a large contingent of fans at every ABSA Cup game adding, “To us, the supporters are like an extra player. It is as though we playing with twelve men and the opposition are playing with eleven.”

During Chiefs' recent successful SAA Supa8 run, The Amakhosi came up against tough opposition, and Scara believes the fantastic support shown to the team helped them win the competition. “During the SAA Supa8 tournament particularly in the semifinals and finals against Moroka Swallows and SuperSport United, the phenomenal support that we received lifted us to victories in those games” explained Scara.

Ngobese, who won the man of the match accolades in the semifinal and final games of the SAA Supa Competition, as well as scoring Chiefs opening goal in the semi final win over Moroka Swallows, believes that he was able to play at his best because of the sheer fanaticism of the Chiefs' fans at the ABSA Stadium in Durban.

Scara added “When I came to the ABSA Stadium for both games, the atmosphere was really electric. With the way our fans had turned out for those games, there was no way we were going to lose and they really made the difference in us winning the SAA Supa8 trophy.”

All the talking will end and the playing will begin for Scara and the rest of the Chiefs team on Sunday afternoon at Olimpia Park in Rustenburg, as Chiefs look to roll over Golden Arrows and into the last 16 of the ABSA Cup.

Having played a bit part in Chiefs' 2006 ABSA Cup run, Scara Ngobese will, on a personal note, be looking to deal a big hand as the defending Champions aim to keep their grip on the Cup.
