Kaizer Chiefs start 2025 in Cape Town with a match against Cape Town City at the DHL Stadium in the Mother City this evening.

Chiefs moved up to 15 points, and 7th on the log, after last weekend’s win over Chippa United in Durban. The hosts, City, are in 12th spot on 11 points. Both teams have played 10 Betway Premiership matches this season.

There will be a big focus in the City dugout following the departure of their previous coach who has been replaced by the technical director, and a former Chiefs coach, Muhsin Ertugral.

Amakhosi will be happy to welcome George Matlou back from a long-term injury that put him out of action for 10 months. Bradley Cross is also back after picking up an injury in early December. Both players start on the bench.

With regard to the selection, Coach Nasreddine Nabi has opted to make one change to the line-up that started against the Chilli Boys, with Christian Saile coming in for Pule Mmodi.

Coach Nabi will go for a 3-4-3 formation this evening.

Bruce Bvuma will want to keep a for the second game in a row.

At the back, Chiefs will have Thatayaone Ditlhokwe playing on the left of back three, with Rushwin Dortley centre-back and Inacio Miguel on the right.

Sibongiseni Mthethwa holds the midfield with Yusuf Maart. They will be supported by wingbacks, Reeve Frosler on the right and Saile on the left

Wandile Duba, and last week’s goalscorer and man of the match, Mduduzi Shabalala will play as just behind the main striker, Ashley Du Preez.

Maart will wear the captain’s armband.

This evening’s referee is Luxolo Badi. His assistants are Kamohelo Ramutsindela zwimisani and Romario Phiri. The fourth official is Sbusiso Sisilana.

The Betway Premiership match between Amakhosi and the Citizens will start at 17:45 at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town. The match is live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv and various SABC radio stations - with regular updates of the match on X (Twitter) @KaizerChiefs.
