Former Kaizer Chiefs captain and current Kaizer Chiefs u-19 coach Ryder Mofokeng has been charged with the duties of assisting new Amakhosi coach Kosta Papic for the rest of the season.

Mofokeng, who has for the past two seasons worked with the first team under former coach Ernst Middendorp, will as a result be able to easily assimilate into the role of assistant coach. Former Chiefs assistant coach Frank Eulberg followed Ernst Middendorp out of Chiefs after a meeting with Chiefs chairman Kaizer Motaung and team manager Bobby Motaung early Monday evening.

Mofokeng is delighted with his new responsibility and believes that having worked with the first team extensively over the past eighteen months, has helped him develop a relationship with the players which will make his duties easier to full fill.

“I would not say that this is new territory it is just a formality, thankfully I have been training and working with the first team for close onto two seasons now. I have enjoyed being apart of the set over this time and obviously I am going to enjoy working closer with the first team, being handed this position will allow me to grow further as a coach. I do believe that like I have gained experience in the past couple of months working with Kosta will be a very worth while experience,” added Ryder.

The former Kaizer Chiefs captain famous for his tough tackling as a player with The Amakhosi in the 1980’s believes that in Kosta Papic Chiefs have found a coach who will be able to ensure that Chiefs close out the season with some good results and performances.

Ryder said, “Kosta is an experienced coach he knows all about the PSL and the pressure and the joy that comes with being the coach of a big team. The fact that he spent two season with Orlando Pirates will have been good preparation for his new job.”

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper coach Rainer Dinkelacker retains his position and will continue working with the clubs goalkeepers, Chiefs youth coach Donald Ace Khuse who had been assisting Frank Eulberg as the reserve team coach. Ace will take over as the coach of the Chiefs reserves who are currently topping their division after two games of the newly former Premier Soccer Reserve League.
