Kaizer Chiefs reserves dealt out an emphatic 4-0 defeat on SuperSport United on Saturday to maintain first place in the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) title race.
Goals from Kamogelo Malefo, Kabelo Nkgwese, Naledi Hlongwane and Thulani Mabaso punctuated a thoroughly consummate performance by Amakhosi who, thanks to the tremendous coaching and mentoring methods emanating from the Club’s development structures, are showing encouraging signs of improvement every game and are getting stronger as the season nears its final stages.
Their next encounter could prove decisive, as they visit the Western Cape to face second-placed Stellenbosch at the Idas Valley stadium on Saturday, 5 April (kick off 12:00). A victory would give Chiefs a four point lead, as well as a game in hand, over their nearest challengers. The match will be broadcast live on television.
In the SAFA Gauteng Development League (GDL), Amakhosi faced Remember Elite Spots Academy at President Park in Vereeniging. The U14s won 3-0 and the U15 won 2-1 in the morning. In the afternoon, the U17s thrashed their hosts 5-1, who bounced back to win their only tie of the day, beating Chiefs U19s, 2-1.
They will host Wits Juniors at the Village on Saturday, 5 April in their forthcoming fixture, which gets under way at 9:00. The matches will be livestreamed on the SuperSport Schools app and website.
