Caution: Sangweni, Rooi

Kaizer Chiefs handed Golden Arrows their first defeat of the season with a solitary goal in front of a packed Orlando Stadium on Wednesday night. The Burundian, Valery Nahayo scored his first goal since arriving in South Africa in close to five years with a flying header helping the hosts to register their 6th win of the season.

Back in Soweto, the Glamour Boys started the game enjoying much of the ball possession but it was at 30th minute when they created the first real opportunity of the game when red hot Ibe Zito Ogbonna had his well unleashed strike going just wide of opposition goals.

Golden Arrows coach, Manqoba Mnqithi surprisingly relegated striker, Richard Henyekane to the bench. It was the latter that terrorised Amakhosi the last time the two sides met registering a hat- trick under his name.

At the 38th minute, Soweto born midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane watched his shot going just wide after leaving Mzivukile Tom dead with a delightful skill. However with goals at his mercy he pushed his shot just wide.

Muhsin Ertugral was forced to make a forced change at the 44th minute bringing David Mathebula for injured Arthur Zwane.

Halftime score 0-0.

The hosts started where they left off in the first stanza when Thabang Rooi’s header went just wide of Helton Da Rocha’s goals after a well taken corner by winger Siphiwe Tshabalala. The referee, Daniel Bennett awarded Chiefs a penalty after Arrows defender handled the ball inside the box.

Nigerian born striker, Ibe Zito Ogbonna stepped up but Helton Da Rocha pulled a brilliant save pushing the ball over the bar. There was no denying the Glamour Boys though as they finally broke the deadlock through a flying header from Valery Nahayo.

Born in Soweto, Thabo Mooki made his first appearance of the season coming in for Ibe Zito Ogbonna in the 74th minute. Siphiwe Tshabalala should have made it two when his right footed shot flew over the bar with five minutes to go.

At the end it was a sweet revenge for Kaizer Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertugral and his charges. The team will be taking a break this weekend owing to Telkom Knockout quarter finals this weekend. Chiefs move to fourth spot in the log with eighteen points after ten games.
