Dr. Lucas Radebe paid a glowing tribute to the Glamour Boys following an emphatic win over Orlando Pirates on Saturday afternoon.

Radebe, who was an interested spectator at the stadium, knows it all about the derbies having participated in the derbies from 1990-1994 during his time at Kaizer Chiefs.

“Chiefs were brilliant today in all departments,” he told kaizerchiefs.com after the game.

“It is always important to have a good start in the game of this nature and Chiefs grabbed a goal early in the game which put Pirates on the back foot.

It was in the midfield and up front where Chiefs stamped their authority. They dominated the midfield and they were ruthless up front with the youngster (Knowledge Musona),” he said.

Radebe said that the win will go a long way in the Club’s pursuit to win the Absa Premiership this season.

“A win in the derby is always good for the team’s confidence. There is a long way to go before the end of the season but there are clear signs that this side might achieve great things this season,” said Radebe who won the league with the Glamour Boys in 1991 and 1992.

Meanwhile, the former Bafana Bafana and Leeds United captain launched his book last week titled: From Soweto to Soccer Superstar; Radebe talks about his story from rags to riches.

Executive Chairman, Kaizer Motaung wrote the foreword of a book about the former defender whose work with charity and his contribution saw him being honoured and held in high esteem all over the world.
