It is a blessing in disguise for Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertugral that his team are next in action only on the 21st October against Platinum Stars, as it gives him time to allow his battle weary troops to regroup for their next assignment which sees them going to the platinum city.

Ertugral will be looking towards having a number of his players available for selection again and will be further buoyed by the news that a scan to one of his latest injury victims Jonathan Quartey has revealed no significant problems to the player.

The Ghanaian youth international was injured during Chiefs recent Telkom Cup win over Moroka Swallows, and took a knock to the hip towards the end of the second half but with Chiefs having already made their allotted three substitutions Quartey had to play through the remaining regulation time and extra time in agonizing pain.

Clear scan

A scan to Quartey’s hip on Monday afternoon allayed any fears that The Amakhosi might have had over losing another key squad member when it came up clear, Chiefs physiotherapist David Milner was pleased with the outcome of Jonathans scan as he commented.

“We will further assess the results of the scan on Wednesday the information we do have is that there is no fracture or breakage on the hip area, so that is good news for us”. Milner further said of Quartey’s injury, “the player will be given time for the swelling to come down and he is going to be rested for the forthcoming week barring any further complications he should be back in training next week and ready for next weekends game”
