Kaizer Chiefs defender, Jonathan Quartey was all smiles today at the Village to fetch his travelling details when he received news from Football Manager, Bobby Motaung that he has been called up to the national team for a friendly match against Tanzania. This is “JJ” first call up to the Black Stars having represented his country at under 20 and under 23 level.

Quartey has been rock solid at the back for Amakhosi during the preseason tournaments and has been duly rewarded for his efforts.

Kaizer Chiefs Head Coach, Muhsin Ertugral told kaizerchiefs.com that he was happy for his defender.

“We are all very proud here for Jona’s call up. He has been outstanding for us since the beginning of the preseason. Black Stars are one of the best teams in the continent and it is going to be good experience for him. His game, like everyone else in the team, has improved a lot this season” he said.
