Former Amakhosi coach Muhsin Ertugral is in the country and had a lengthy meeting with club chairman Kaizer Motaung late on Monday afternoon, where the possible transfer of Pule to Austria was discussed. The Turkish mentor is also believed to be interested in Italy-based striker Siyabonga Nomvete.

Ertugral was appointed coach at Austrian club Mattesburg on a two-year contract last Thursday and immediately promised the club supporters that he would bring “a South African who played for South Africa at the 2002 World Cup and 2004 Nations Cup”.

Motaung confirmed the meeting with Ertugral and that the club would assist where possible to get Pule to Austria.

“Jabu is available, as he has indicated his wish to go overseas and I told Muhsin we can try to assist him in securing the player,” said Motaung. “It will be in Jabu’s interest if he goes overseas because the longer he stays in South Africa, things won’t work out.”

Pule, who was reported to have had a car accident over the weekend, has not played for Chiefs in three months. The player was not injured in the car accident and he is likely to jump at the opportunity of an overseas move.

The prospect of playing alongside long-time friend and former Chiefs teammate Nomvete, will make the offer even more tempting.

Motaung seems to have given up on Pule, who was strongly linked to a move to rivals Sundowns after his latest disappearing act - coincidentally in the build up to the Absa Cup match against the Chloorkop side.

“Whether Jabu stays here, either with us or another club that will not help,” said Motaung. “An overseas move could resurrect his career and help him remain focused.”

Pule has since been training on his own after he was ordered out of the club for “disruptive behaviour” on his return from a one-month suspension.

The dribbling ace, who made his Amakhosi debut in August 1999, was not at the Johannesburg Stadium on Saturday when Chiefs recorded their first league title in 11 years, as he was in the North West region.
