Pressure is on Santos – Sweswe

Thomas Sweswe (Rambo) believes the pressure will be on Santos on Sunday as the two sides square up in the last 16 round of the Telkom Knockout at Newlands Stadium.

The last time the teams met in a cup game was back in the 2003/2004 season and the game needed a stunning winner from former left-back David Kannemeyer.

Chiefs go to Cape Town missing a few players, including defender Thomas Sweswe. “I am very disappointed that I will not be in Cape Town with the boys this weekend,” he told kaizerchiefs.com from the Physiotherapy room at Naturena on Thursday morning.

“I am confident though, that we will come back with a good result. Pressure will be on the hosts. They might take things lightly, taking into consideration that we are missing a few players due to injury and to some of them being in the Bafana Bafana squad. They also have the home ground advantage and all of this might work in our favour (making them overconfident),” he said.

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwean-born defender predicted a bright future for Lucky Khune, who made his first appearance for the Club against Mpumalanga Black Aces in February.

“He is definitely one for the future. The boy is deadly and can use both feet. He showed against Aces that if he continues to work hard he could be one of the best. I think we have quite good young players in the team, like George Lebese and Mandla Masango, who are also destined for bigger things,” concluded ‘Rambo’.
