Kaizer Chiefs Coach Ernst Middendorp

‘I thought the result was really unfair on us, just as we have done in other games during the pre season we dominated the game but could not finish off the chances we had.

In addition to not make the most of our chances up front we made to really basic mistakes at the back where we should have been a bit tighter, if we controlled things from the corner and cleared our lines properly they would not have scored their goal.

On the other side of the field Shaun, David and Gert had great opportunities that could have won us this game, Gert’s miss with only the keeper to beat should have been a goal that is the nature of the game if you don’t take your chances then you only have yourself to blame.

Well what more can be said now, we will take off tomorrow and start working extra hard towards getting ourselves back into gear for next weeks game against Arrows’.

Man of the match Kaizer Chiefs Midfielder David Mathebula

‘Personally I am pleased to have won this accolade as it will definitely give me a boost for the week ahead and next weeks game against Arrows.

Being voted the man of the match after playing only one half of the game is really an achievement, in time I would like to get myself in a position whereby I could get ninety minutes of game time and further contribute to the teams success.

We are sad to have lost this game as we really had chances to win it, we can take a lot out of this performance and I think that we should carry on from where we left off in the second half and move it forward to our game against Arrows’.

Miguel Gamondi Sundowns Coach

‘We are very happy with this result, we had not had as much match practise as Chiefs but I thought that we played well enough and kept our shape up front and at the back.

We created early chances and took them which really worked in our favour, all the guys had a good game and we will now look forward to playing Celtic in the final.

Chiefs must also get credit for giving us a really tough game they could have won it in the second half and I do feel that the race for the PSL title this season will be between us and Chiefs’.
