One game at a time – Ertugral

Muhsin Ertugral has told kaizerchiefs.com that he is not thinking about winning the league but winning the ‘next game’.

This was following an emphatic 2-1 victory against Bidvest Wits on Saturday night. The win saw Chiefs moving to third position with 40 points behind Orlando Pirates (43) and SuperSport United (46).

“People are quick to write teams off when a team suffers a defeat,” he said referring to the sentiments that suggested that Chiefs title hopes had faded following a heavy defeat by SuperSport.

“To us the next game is the most important. This weekend following our game against Wits we have another tough game against Pretoria University.”

Reflecting on the win against Bidvest, Ertugral believes that his side played a better football and deserved to win the game.

“We attacked them early in the game with Shabba (Siphiwe Tshabalala’s) volley shaving the post. We were solid in all areas.

There is always a room for improvement though. For instance we should not have conceded a goal late in the game. I am going to talk to the boys about that, it is very important that we focus in particular at the crucial stage in the game,” he said.

Chiefs’ next league game in the Absa Premiership will be against Free State Stars at home on the 4th April 2009.
