Nomvete scored twice as Udinese beat Serse Cosmi's Perugia 3-2 in Wolfsberg, Austria. Udinese have a great tradition of unearthing new strikers – including Abel Balbo, Carnevale and Marcio Amoroso – and the fans now expect great things from Nomvete.
"I played a really young team," coach Roy Hodgson explained, "but, despite their age, they played very well for 85 minutes – and that wasn't easy to do against that side."
Hodgson was delighted with the performance of Nomvete, who was superb.
"He played a good match," Hodgson confirmed, "and Brazilian midfielder Marcos Paulo Alves was also good, but I saw many other things that make me optimistic for the future.
