With Angolan team Petro Atletico withdrawing on Thursday from a friendly game they were meant to play against Chiefs, the Amakhosi had to find makeshift opposition for their practice match on Thursday afternoon. This opposition came in the form of Castle Regional 3rd Division team Rock Ridge United from Soweto, whom Chiefs easily deposed of.

Gert Schalkwky got a hat trick and supported by braces from Songwe Chalwe, Kaizer Motaung Junior, John Shoes Moshoeu, Ntokozo Sikhakhane and strikes from Fabian McCarthy and Gerald Sibeko ensured that Chiefs ran out comfortable 13-0 winners. “We would have preferred to have played against the Angolan side as it would have provided tougher opposition, this game was okay it was a morale booster for us.

Chiefs have two more friendly games before the PSL resumes on the 15th February, they will be in action against Ajax in Cape Town this Sunday and will round off their mid season programme with another friendly game against Moroka Swallows on the 11th February. The game against Swallows will take place at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Rustenburg.
