The occasion was the Vodacom Challenge Final which took place on the 22nd July, as Nkosi helped Chiefs win the trophy for the fourth time since 1999 and in so doing Chiefs overcame English Premier League giants Manchester United in that game.

This weekend Nkosi comes up against a ‘devil’ of a different kind when South Africa face up to Congo (like Manchester United the Congolese national team are also nick named the ‘Red Devils’) in an Africa Cup of Nations Ghana 2008 Qualifying game at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Talking to KaizerChiefs.com from his Sandton hotel room where he is currently camped out with the rest of the Bafana Bafana team, which includes Nkosi’s teammates from Chiefs Rowen Fernandez and Cyril Nzama. The young midfield playmaker was confident of adding to his eight international caps and was looking forward towards transferring his good club form to a match winning performance for the national team.

Nkosi said of Bafana’s game against Congo this Saturday “I have been hard at work at training with the national team and I have given my all in ensuring that I get to start the game”.

Nkosi was also hopeful that he would get more action on Saturday than he did when South Africa played against Namibia a fortnight ago, when he came on as a substitute late in that game. Nkosi added “I feel right now that I had two good games against Golden Arrows and SuperSport United and I believe that based on that I will see more action against Congo”.

The last time Bafana Bafana met Congo back in June 2001 also in an African Nations Cup qualifier the game ended in a goalless draw, with Ernst Middendorp planning to watch the game live at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, Nkosi will be hoping that there is no repeat of the 2001 result.

As the Chiefs midfield man has also made clear his intentions of using the Congo game to try and find his first goal for his country, and put in the kind of performance that will see Bafana Bafana get their qualifying campaign for Ghana 2008 off to a winning start.
