Nkosi to take centre stage in Vodacom Challenge

Since joining Kaizer Chiefs, midfield lynchpin Siyabonga Nkosi hasn’t lived up to the billing.

Wooed from Bloemfontein Celtic at the beginning of last season, Nkosi’s repertoire of skills didn’t come to the fore, but with Chiefs taking on rivals Orlando Pirates and English powerhouse Tottenham Hotspur in the annual Vodacom Challenge next month, expect Nkosi to be at his best.

“I want to have a successful season and that means a sterling participation in the Vodacom Challenge. Last season was a bad one but I will be ready for this one. I have no excuses except to say it was a learning curve and now I am raring to go,” said Chiefs’ number 10.

“I want to claim my national team spot and ensure that we win the league. We must give our fans what they have been craving for and starting the season on a high by successfully defending the Vodacom Challenge will go a long way in our quest to return to a winning mood. There is no doubt about Tottenham’s ability and pedigree and after beating Manchester United last year, I am positive we can do it again.”
