Nkosi came off second best in a clash with Mamelodi Sundowns player Esrom Nyandoro, when Chiefs and The Brazilians played to a goalless draw at the FNB Stadium.

Nkosi had to leave the game on a stretcher after ten minutes, as he was taken to the Milpark hospital in Johannesburg, but was released shortly afterwards and allowed to return home.

Communicating the information on the Chiefs midfield wizard’s injury early on Monday evening, club physiotherapist David Milner said “Siyabonga did have a scan done on his ankle on Monday afternoon.

Just as we were told on Saturday when we took him to the hospital, there is no fracture or any broken body parts in his ankle, he does though have small ligament damage to the affected area.

Which means that at this stage we can safely say that Siyabonga will be out of competitive action including training for the next six weeks, we will thereafter send him for further tests and will make a decision based on what comes out of those tests”.

Amakhosi coach Ernst Middendorp had earlier said that they had been resigned to the fact, that the team would be with out Siyabonga’s services for this coming weekends SAA Supa8 Final in Durban.

The hope now for the Chiefs technical team and medical staff is that the midfield dynamo will have sufficiently recovered by the 9th December, when The Amakhosi will take on arch rivals Orlando Pirates at the FNB Stadium.
