Nhleko up for the challenge

Amakhosi striker Nkosinathi Nhleko has revealed to kazierchiefs.com that despite not seeing any game time two games into the new season, he is carrying on in preparation for when he is given the opportunity to play.

As he explained to kaizerchiefs.com he is happy to wait for the opportune moment, “I will keep on probing and carry on working as hard as I have to in order to become a regular. I knew from the beginning that it would take a special effort to be a starter this season and I am ready to put in the extra work to ensure that I can put up in extra special displays when I do feature.”

Having years of experience to draw on will according to the much travelled striker help him come through the challenge that now faces him, “I have been in this place in my career before when I was in Europe I had to battle against other players for a regular place in the team. I have developed a mental toughness to deal with these kinds of challenges.”

Nhleko believes that suggestions that he cannot be a meaningful contributor for the club this season are unfounded, “I have read in the press that I am too old, I can see why any player can be written off even though they are just over 30. Look at Diego Forlan and Fillipo Inzaghi they are in their 30’s and look at their form, I have taken a lot of motivation out of what they have been doing in recent times.”

With Chiefs hoping to be competitive on four fronts this season Nhleko is confident that his opportunity to impress will come sometime during the campaign, “there is a long season ahead of us and I know that when my chance does come I have to be ready to make the most of it.

We have a squad of more than 20 players and if my job is to be a positive influence on the young guys like Knowledge Musona and Sthembiso Ngcobo I am happy to help in that way, I am also happy for these young players and what they have achieved for the club and it’s good to see them doing well.”
