Newlands to host Amakhosi

When Chiefs travel to Cape Town next week to take on Santos in a crucial league game, they will be facing off with the Peoples team at the Newlands Rugby Stadium instead of Santos more favoured ground, which is the Athlone Stadium.

The Amakhosi’s game on Wednesday 15th March will still kick off at 19h30 but will be played at Newlands Stadium, which has a larger capacity than Athlone Stadium.

When Chiefs visit the mother city they are normally followed by a huge contingent of supporters, with Athlone Stadium currently under renovations the league felt that for safety and other logistical reasons the game be moved to Newlands.

For Chiefs at this crucial juncture in the season the only important fact, is that they pick up three points in every game from now onwards. With this in mind Chiefs will be hoping to go one better against Santos than the goalless draw they played to when the two teams met in Rustenburg in October last year.
