Nahayo delighted with the comeback

Towering defender, Valery Nahayo has expressed his delight to be back on the field after spending time on the sidelines due to injury.

The Burundian international had only made one appearance this season against Bidvest Wits early in August in the MTN8 quarterfinal match but was then ruled out due to injury to his groin area.

Nahayo, playing alongside Thomas Sweswe, has been outstanding in the last three games helping the Glamour Boys to keep a clean sheet.

“The feeling of making a comeback cannot be put in words. I was always looking forward to coming back and helping the team. I am happy that we have not conceded a goal in the last three games and this is something as a defence, not only me, should be proud of,” he said speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Friday afternoon.

“I am happy with my contribution in the team, although there is always a room for improvement, but I must thank Thomas (Sweswe) for the support he has given me since coming back.

We normally stay behind after the warm ups to do ‘high balls’. It is very important that we do that - as in a game you must be ready for a high ball all the time. We also communicate a lot during the match and that is why it has not been easy for the teams to find an opening at the back”.

Nahayo told kaizerchiefs.com that with the dream to win the league over, he and his teammates would now be going out to win both the Telkom Knockout and Nedbank Cup.

“We are going all out to win the remaining trophies but we cannot take the last game against Free State Stars lightly. It is important, as much as we want to win cups, that we close on a high in the league as well,” he added.
