Bongani 'Shakes' Sondhlane believes that he will get a chance possibly next season to don the famous black and gold having been promoted from the development in September last year.

“I have learnt a lot since joining the senior team at the beginning of last season,” he told kaizerchiefs.com.

Born on the 19th October 1991, ‘Shakes’ Sondlane as he prefers to be called joined Kaizer Chiefs development back in 2004 where he played under a watchful eye of Zero Mogale.

“It was not difficult for me to get used to training methods of the first team as our coach; Ace Khuse would work with the senior team and that would be trained at development. My teammates also helped me a lot especially Michael Nkambule. We come from the same area and he has been a real inspiration. He works very hard and always encourages me to express myself,” he said

“I am hoping to get some game time next season. I learnt a lot this season in terms of protecting the ball, finishing and positioning. I am comfortable playing as both the striker and behind strikers…it is the same role I played at development where I scored a lot of goals.

I am aware that development and playing top-flight football are two different things. I am confident that I will make it at Chiefs and realize my childhood dream of playing for this great Club,” concluded the youngster.
