My best is yet to come – Lebese

Vladimir Vermezovic surprised many on Tuesday night when he gave young, George Lebese the nod ahead of Siphiwe Tshabalala against Golden Arrows. It was the youngster’s first start for the Glamour Boys since putting pen to paper in June 2008.

As expected, he troubled Golden Arrows with his trickery and showed that he has the ability to deliver pin-point crosses as well.

“I believe I can still do more for the team,” he told kaizerchiefs.com after the game.

“It showed that I had not played for a very long time and I like to believe that with more game time I will deliver more for the team,” he said.

Lebese, who only featured as a substitute last season, revealed to kaizercheifs.com that he did not expect to start the game. “I was at least expecting to start from the bench and when the coach announced my name in the starting line-up I was excited and nervous about the challenge that lay ahead. It is the kind of opportunity that I have been waiting for since joining this great club,” said George.

Lebese is aware that he will need to work even harder to retain the starting berth in the team. “I am not going to rest on my laurels and I am going to continue giving my best at training. If the coach gives me a chance again I will grab it with both hands.

“We are all disappointed by the result tonight. We knew we had to win at all costs, but then we could not take our chances, especially in the first half, where we dominated proceedings. We will now have to focus on our next game against Mpumalanga Black Aces,” he added.
